Our History

vertical outside 320hClara Viscardi and her staff welcome you to The Whistle Stop Restaurant, located in Beeton, Ontario, just a short drive northwest of Toronto.

Formerly the village drugstore, Clara named the restaurant due to the close proximity to the South Simcoe Railway which runs tourist excursions between Tottenham and Beeton from late Spring through Fall.

A highlight of the restaurant's decor is a large, three-dimensional mural created by local artisan, Angelo Caruano.

The Whistle Stop is not just popular with the local clientele but also with out-of-towners who make reservations weeks in advance to enjoy Clara's ever varying menu and the special 'Theme Nights' that run throughout the year.

The venue is also the location of many special events including Wedding, Birthday or Anniversary parties, business functions and special get-togethers.

Regulars always check the chalkboards for the daily Lunch and Dinner Specials and the day's tempting Desserts.

The Saturday and Sunday Breakfasts are another popular feature at The Whistle Stop.

Dining at The Whistle Stop is not pretentious. Clara mixes friendly ambience with original gourmet touches, ensuring that her guests come back often.

Before or after your visit to The Whistle Stop, Clara invites you to explore 'her town'.

Originally named Clarksville, the name was changed to Beetown and then to Beeton after David Jones established his apiaries here in the 1870s and made it the honey and bee-breeding capital of Canada.

The charming Main Street houses many one-of-a-kind shops whose merchants will make you most welcome.

"The Whistle Stop Restaurant is fully licensed and is proud to feature Ontario wines.

Throughout the year, Clara welcomes people from all over the province to her special Theme Dinners.

The Wild Game nights might feature Wild Boar Ribs, Caribou Loin or Quail with a chestnut and wild rice stuffing.

The Lobster Nights are always a sell-out. They are flown in fresh the day of the dinner.

We invite you to visit this page often as the various Theme Nights are announced.
